Sinus Node Disorder

Sinus Node Disorders

Rare disorders of the normal pacemaker system of the heart termed the sinus node may exist.  These commonly occur in young patients who notice their heart racing at times during rest.  Additionally, their heart rate may be very hyperactive and very susceptible to stress.  Ablation therapy for this condition typically targets modification of the sinus node complex which then slows the heart rhythm without completely destroying the normal pacemaker system of the heart.  Sophisticated mapping techniques, as well as cryoablation therapy are use used to perform this ablation procedure.
